You see an upward path for the world and you’re working to add another paving stone to it. You might be helping people with stuff in their lives, or trying to change national policy. You might be a campaign group volunteer, a national charity employee, an entrepreneur with a creative or heart-centred business, or an author with something to say.
You know how to do your thing. But telling people about it, presenting yourself the right way and influencing people? They never taught you that in school!
Do you ever feel like people just expect you to be able to write and design things and get them out there? Perhaps this is unknown territory, and you feel stressed about doing a good job and dealing with techy stuff. You just want the basics, explained so they’re easy to understand.
Or perhaps you’ve got going alright but you want to delve deeper so you can be more effective. What are your website and materials saying about you? How do you make them really look good and fit your brand? You’re looking for some new thinking and practical tips you can use.
Don’t be alarmed, citizen!
This is just a matter of skills. You can improve your awareness of what makes a well-written, well-presented message. If your talents or interests are in other areas, you can bring in help to set stuff up for you so you can get on and use it.
Message: information with direction. It’s aimed at a particular person or group, to influence their thinking or behaviour. Info that does something rather than just sitting there.
